About Gibnews
The gibnews.net domain was officially registered on September 25, 2002 at a time when local politics were focused on the unpopular joint sovereignty proposal promoted by the UK Labour Government. Initially the site operated as a one page news aggregator.
Between 2005-2016 we produced a comprehensive original daily news service publishing press releases and comment by local entities with our own news photos of events happening on the Rock. International news headlines, videos, and currency rates.
Since then we have taken a break, but the upcoming Brexit agreement with the EU is a significant milestone in Gibraltar's history and will determine what sort of future we all enjoy. So its time to present some independent thoughts and facts about what it all means.
Despite a similar name, this site is not associated with the blog 'Llanito World' found at gibnews.wordpress.com which is the work of Gibraltar-based writer and political commentator Robert Vasquez, which he started around 2009.
